Sur la Plage

Whilst my itinerary stated that we would be staying in Perpignan these past few days, it hasn’t really featured very much. We have actually been staying in a rather lovely camp-site at Canet-en-Rousillion, operated by Yelloh! Now, for some, this would be far too sanitised, but my slaves have been cock-a-hoop about the hot water, clean facilities and cheap plonk available on tap in la cave aux vins! My priority has been the proximity of the chien-friendly beach and my chance to build bridges with our continental brethren. One thing am unsure that the EU has cracked is the encouraging of socialisation for furry creatures, and the picking up of their deposits… ugh! A woman from GB made a beeline-line for me with Tilly the Yorkie-Poo, like a heat seeking missile (perhaps too topical), as we strolled towards the beautiful town of Collioure.

Getting better at these selfies???

We had a lovely day out, visiting Ceret first, where MN went to a modern art gallery and showed MJ photos of messy picture by Picasso, Chagall,Dufy, and Dali. We then we all shared a single burger (!) for lunch before a scenic drive through hills of vineyards back to the coast to Collioure. Less successful was the day out to Perpignan and Canet Plage – boring, no ball, no food, not bothered…
I have also been invited to stay with my new BFF, Bruno, who lives near Düsseldorf. He lives with an older Sisfur, Enny, an Australian Shepherd dog, so having some bruvver time suited him, just fine. Sometimes, too fine, but we won’t go into that…!!!!!!

It would also seem that camping has facilitated the loss of dignity of my slaves…not a second thought to socks and sandals, un-brushed hair nor ill-matching robes. But the ultimate embarrassment has been the trips to the gym, normal and aqua; aqua-biking -cycling.in.water….I ask you… Thankfully, the first attempt at Zumba was rained off – thank heavens for small mercies, as they intended to make me stay and watch them! At least the other times I have remained in the tent, slumbering or musing on my next literary instalment…bliss!

Noodles for breakfast!

So beach life suits me – early to bed (although not sure the 3cm camping mats are up to scratch) and late to rise…….not sure why they think we need to move on to Bordeaux!

Surfer dude!

Not happening!

Happy? Moi?.

  1. Dear Pete, MJ and MN
Lovely to hear how wonderful things are. All looks fab!
I am now anxious, however, about the use of term ‘slave’ when Mums, girlies, lovelies, goddesses or carers would be perfect. I am at Page 103 of the great Underground Railroad book by Coulson Whitehead ( Nat) about US slavery in the 1800s and having a good weep ( again) Jolly holiday reading…. very tragic but worth the effort. A stunning novel.
so when do you are to Italy then? Hope we can still get there, Mr O’Leary and Ryanair permitting. What a git he is ! Love you all

    • MN finished the Underground Railroad in the first week (sorry it didn’t get mentioned but frankly it took her away from ball for extended periods) – she says thank you and that it was a brilliant read x Mummies had anticipated some backlash about my use of “slaves” – I am enjoying having them at my beck and call 24/7 so promise to be better behaved in my use of language- no offence meant! X

  2. Hi Pete. Seems like you’re having fun making new friends, and I’m very jealous of all the sun you’ve been getting. Been a bit miserable here (apart from this w/e) – don’t get why K&A insist on still taking me out in the rain.

    Mr T x
